ROMERO BRITTO SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES IN RIO: JUDO FACE IN FULL SHEETS

In keeping with tradition, Philately Liechtenstein will issue separate stamp series on the Olympic Games. An artist from the host country, Romero Britto, was engaged to design the special stamps on the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. 
Born in Recife, Brazil in 1963, Britto lived an extremely modest lifestyle while growing up amongst eight brothers and sisters. However, his innate creativity allowed Britto to fill his life with images of a bigger and more beautiful world beyond his own. After exhibiting in a few galleries and private shows, Britto was encouraged to travel to the United States where Pop Art was flourishing. With an unshakable resolve and belief in his art, he spent the next few years exhibiting and attracting the attention of many. 
Romero Britto also designed the  “Judo” (face value: CHF 2.00) special stamps in his distinctive style of pop art. This is one of the 28 types of sports in which over 10,500 athletes from 204 nations will put their performance to the test during the 17 days of the competition.
